Bellco Fights Hunger with Food Bank of the Rockies

In March of 2012, Bellco donated $100,000 to Food Bank of the Rockies providing them funds to purchase two food dehydrators for a Food Bank of the Rockies facility housed in Grand Junction. Being in close proximity to the farms of the Western Slope, has allowed Food Bank of the Rockies the ability to preserve and distribute thousands of pounds of produce for use in the metro area that would otherwise have gone to waste. The first shipment of dehydrated produce arrived in the fall of 2012.

This program will make Food Bank of the Rockies one of only six Feeding America food banks in the country to have such capabilities.

Bellco Distributes Dehydrated Fruit Snacks with Food Bank of the Rockies

In February of 2014, Bellco and Food Bank of the Rockies executives and board members distributed dehydrated fruit snacks to kids at the George M. Wilfley Boys & Girls Club in northwest Denver to celebrate Food Bank of the Rockies dehydrated produce program, made possible by the $100,000 donation to Food Bank of the Rockies from Bellco.

This event commemorates the completion of the produce dehydrator facility on the Western Slope and the commencement of shipments of dehydrated produce back to the Front Range. Through this produce dehydrating program, dried fruits will be available to more than 2,300 Colorado children per week as a healthy snack option.
