By Automotive Avenues

For more than 30 years, Automotive Avenues (you may know us simply as “Auto Aves”) has been providing award-winning automotive sales and service options to Bellco members and their families. And every spring, we just can’t wait to help get you ready for your spring or summer road trip. Whether you need a new vehicle to get you where you’re going, or just need a quick service check-up to make sure you get there safely, we’re ready and anxious to help.

With that in mind, here are a few road-trip tips that we’ve always found helpful.

Plan Ahead
The first rule of thumb for any good road trip is to plan ahead. This could mean anything from mapping your route to just checking your vehicle maintenance records. Make sure you begin planning early so that you can schedule service appointments, download new navigation apps for the road, research hotels, campgrounds or just better understand where all of the “must see” sights are located. After all, you don’t want to miss the world’s biggest ball of twine if it’s just a few miles off your designated route!

Put Together Your Travel Budget
Ok—sorry for the parental advice here, but you need to understand what you’re willing to invest in your road trip before it begins. Trust us, these things can get away from you. Especially when you get into your “vacation mojo” and nothing but the adventure seems to matter. There’s nothing worse than realizing that that $1,200 getaway turned into a $2,000 extravaganza when you review your next credit card bill! Research hotel costs, campground fees, and other entertainment costs before you go.

Make it a Safe Trip
Nothing will ruin your road trip faster than car problems. After all, the whole point of driving is to avoid the headaches associated with air travel and getting nickel-and-dimed to death (bags travel for free on a road trip)! The freedom to go where you want, when you want, and to stay as long as you want, is what makes driving so enjoyable.

Just make sure your vehicle is ready to cooperate by taking it in for a service checkup before you go. A simple oil change, tire rotation, and vehicle inspection can give you tremendous peace of mind and help ensure your trip remains safe and fun.

Like we always say: “An inspection today, keeps the tow-truck away!”

Ralston House

In May, Bellco will collect donations for Ralston House, a not-for-profit agency that provides a friendly and safe place for child and teen survivors of abuse to tell their stories and begin the healing process. Founded in 1990, Ralston House receives referrals from law enforcement, social services, and the district attorney's office, and adheres to best-practice policies and procedures to serve the best interest of children.

Please consider donating to this charitable cause through Bellco’s Charity of the Month page. To learn more about Ralston House, just visit their website.
