Ditch the Side Hustle with Boost Checking

Are you a side hustler? If so, you’re not alone. Nearly one in ten Americans work an extra gig in addition to their full-time jobs to help build their savings, and in many cases, just to make ends meet. Millennials in particular have embraced the concept of side hustles, which can include jobs like sign spinning, walking the neighbors’ dogs, selling homemade goods on Etsy, or joining the ride-share trend with companies like Uber® or Lyft®, just to name a few.

While side hustles can be a great source of extra income, there are always some downsides to consider when choosing your perfect gig. For instance, if you walk dogs for extra cash, you have to deal with unpredictable weather, dogs that don’t want to go where you want to go, and of course, what to do when nature calls and you’re all out of plastic bags.

Thankfully, Bellco offers our own side hustle, which in many ways, is an easier way to earn extra cash.

Boost Interest Checking
Boost pays you a higher than normal interest rate for doing many of the things you already do with a checking account. To earn the highest interest rate available, currently 2.25% APY*, all you need to do is make at least 15 debit-card purchases per month (not including ATM transactions), have at least one direct deposit per month, and log in to our online or mobile banking at least once per month—that’s it. Plus, there are no monthly fees and no minimum balance requirements.

For further information about applicable fees and terms, visit BellcoBoost.com or speak to a Bellco representative at any one of our 25 branches.

*APY=Annual Percentage Yield.

How to Destress After the Holidays

January is often regarded as a fresh start or a clean slate—after all, it’s the beginning of a new year. However, for many, the weeks between Halloween and New Year’s Day were a marathon of decorating, cooking, entertaining, shopping, traveling, eating, and making merry, and it can be hard to find energy to really gear up for a new year. If you’re overly stressed after all of the holidays, now might be the right time for you to focus on yourself.

One challenge during wintertime is the number of hours of darkness we live with. While we’re lucky that Colorado is one of the sunniest states in the country, we need to be sure to take advantage of it. If you work indoors during the short daylight hours, be sure to get outside for 15 to 20 minutes each day to grab some sunshine. Take a coffee break or use part of your lunch hour, but be sure you’re out there for the rejuvenating rays. While you’re out there, get a walk in. The fresh air and the movement can help boost your energy levels, which can lead to better problem-solving abilities and ways to combat stress.

Get plenty of sleep—if you burned the midnight oil to make it through the holidays, your body might be sleep-deprived and needs to recharge. Although every person requires different amounts of sleep for optimal rest, physicians generally suggest that adults should get between seven and nine hours a night; anything less might be worsening your signs of stress.

Be sure to spend at least some of your free time doing something relaxing you love, such as scrapbooking, creating art, listening to music, or reading. If you were going gangbusters toward the end of December, odds are good that you neglected the things that make you the happiest, which can lead to higher stress levels.

Of course, one of the most stressful things for many people is finances, which, come January, can be a mess if you overindulged in gift or celebration spending. Which means that now’s the time to get it back in order. If you haven’t gotten your annual credit report, check in with one of the main agencies so you can fix or refute any negative elements on your report. Set up a new annual budget—and be sure to include setting aside some additional savings to make some room in preparation for this year’s holiday expenditures. Consider speaking with a Bellco Financial Services representative for help developing your savings plan for this year and in the future.

If you’re not feeling like you’re ready to leap into 2019, now’s a great time to take care of you. Giving yourself the time you need to refresh your body, mind, and bank account can help you unwind and relax after the holiday season, getting you ready to meet the new year head on.

Introducing Blue Ribbon Home Warranty

By Blue Ribbon Home Warranty, Inc.

We’re proud to announce our partnership with Bellco to offer Bellco members our home warranty services at a discounted price. Blue Ribbon is Colorado’s only locally owned and operated home-warranty company.

How Does Our Home Warranty Work?
Blue Ribbon Home Warranty is a service contract that helps with the costs associated with the repair or replacement of a home’s major systems and appliances when they break down due to normal wear and tear. There is a yearly premium, and when a technician is sent out to your home, there is a co-pay.

Blue Ribbon offers coverage for a home’s systems like HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliances (dishwasher, refrigerator, trash compactor, etc.) that are in your home at the time the warranty is purchased. We offer a variety of plans to suit your home as well as a preventive maintenance plan, and extra coverage for things like a pool or hot tub, or even a second furnace.

Home Protection Is Simple To Get
Simply contact us at the phone number or website below and we’ll walk you through the application process. Once your warranty is activated, you can rest easier knowing that when a covered item breaks down, all you need to do is call us or go online to file a claim. It really is that easy.

Blue Ribbon is available for claims 24/7/365 and when you call, you’ll speak with a fellow Coloradan who will provide you with our personalized, local service. Once we receive your claim, we will send a fully licensed and insured technician to diagnose the problem. When we send a technician out, you’ll pay a small copay of $65.00. No more going through the yellow pages, Google, or asking friends for a qualified service technician. Blue Ribbon thoroughly vets our technicians and we use only the best in Colorado. Then, according to the terms of your service contract, we will help with the repair or replacement costs incurred.
